Director of WHC, Mr Fred Msemwa, said
over the weekend that 50 houses have been built in Mkundi in Morogoro
Region, 59 in Kisesa Mwanza, 104 at Magomeni, 71 in Bunju B Mabwepande
and 329 at Gazaulole in Kigamboni area in Dar es Salaam.
“The
houses consist of two bedrooms including a living room, kitchen, store,
bathrooms and master bedroom, “ he said adding that houses would be
sold as soft loans to public servants in and outside the country.
According
to Mr Msemwa, the houses that consist of two bedrooms, a kitchen, store
and a veranda would be sold starting from 27m/- and those which have
three bedrooms would be acquired at 38m/- .
“The
cost ranges according to the type and size of the house, the location
or region, “ he noted. In line with that the WHC has commended the
government for establishing a development Housing Fund that would see
servants acquire and possess houses through soft loans.
Mr
Msemwa said that the Nyumba Fund to officially set off this year, would
also help the civil servants to acquire a portion of the Fund through
investing in the Fund.
“Nyumba
House to be put into implementation soon has been formed by the
government to enable public servants especially low-incomers to acquire a
portion of the Fund through investments in order to help them possess
affordable homes way,” he said.
He
said the investments to be made by the servants through the Nyumba Fund
would enable them (Public Servants) acquire houses on loan from the
WHC.
“The
investment plan through the fund also aims at enabling the servants to
acquire their savings and profits,” he said mentioning other benefits to
profit the servants as low interest rate and huge profits on their
savings.
